Two things drive value: rarity and the meta
In Anime Vanguards, how hard a unit is chased in trades comes down to two forces working together: how rare it is (unobtainable vs. still farmable from banners, stages, or the battle pass) and how strong it is in the current meta. A unit that's both unobtainable and meta sits at the top of the community value scale; a unit that's neither sits low.
Why unobtainable units hold value
- Once a unit leaves the banners, stages, and battle pass, its supply is frozen — no new copies enter the game.
- As players move on to newer content, the pool of an unobtainable unit only shrinks, which supports its relative value.
- Rarity plus demand is the sweet spot: an unobtainable unit that's also useful in the meta is the most sought-after.
- An unobtainable unit that's fallen out of the meta can still hold value on nostalgia and rarity — just less than when it was strong.
- A shiny variant of an unobtainable unit is its own, more sought-after entry, since shiny status is baked into the unit.
Why the meta moves value
The meta is which units actually clear the hardest content right now. When a unit dominates damage checks and hard modes, demand for it spikes and its place on the community value scale rises. Reworks, new banners, and balance changes constantly reshuffle the meta — so a top-tier unit today can cool off tomorrow, and value moves with it.
Why a strong obtainable unit isn't tradeable
Here's the rule that trips up new traders: if a unit can still be earned in-game right now — even a limited one — you can't trade it, no matter how strong it is in the meta. Anyone who wants it can just go farm it themselves, so there's nothing to trade for. Only once a unit becomes unobtainable does it enter the trading pool.
Putting it together before you trade
- Confirm the unit is actually tradeable (unobtainable) before you get attached — strong but still obtainable means it's locked.
- Weigh rarity and meta together: unobtainable + meta is top-tier, unobtainable + off-meta still holds, farmable + off-meta is low.
- Remember pity, traits, and the equipped skin reset on trade — value the unit itself (with its kept stats, level, and ascension), not its current roll.
- Check the community value list near trade time since the meta shifts, then run the swap through WFL for a Win / Fair / Lose read.
