TTD Shiny vs Duped: what they mean and how to check

In Toilet Tower Defense a unit can be a normal version, a Shiny, or a Duped copy — and which one it is completely changes what it's worth in a trade. Shiny is a good thing; Duped is a red flag. Knowing which one is in front of you is the single most important check before you confirm any trade.

What Shiny means

• A Shiny is the golden variant of a unit, so it looks different from the standard version.
• Because it's rarer, a Shiny is worth more than the normal unit on the community value list.
• A Shiny of a popular or event unit can sit well above the base unit.
• Only trade for a Shiny if the unit in the window is actually the Shiny version, not just described as one.

What Duped means and why it hurts

• A Duped unit is an exploited duplicate, not one that was legitimately earned.
• The community treats a Duped unit as worth far less than a clean copy of the same unit.
• It's a trust risk — accepting one can leave you holding something the community treats as tainted.
• Scammers try to pass a Duped unit off as clean to shark a high-value trade, so treat any too-good high-tier offer with caution.

How to confirm which one you're getting

• Open the trade window and read the exact unit the other side put up — don't go on their word.
• Check the unit's Shiny state in the window matches what you were promised.
• Look for anything that flags a unit you expected to be clean as Duped instead.
• If a unit's value seems too high for what's offered back, stop and re-verify it isn't Duped.
• Never confirm until every unit's Shiny or Duped state is exactly what you agreed.

Value it correctly before you confirm

• Look up the unit on the community value list, and factor in the Shiny premium if it applies.
• Add the Shiny bump in on your side, and mark down anything Duped on either side.
• Run the whole thing through the WFL calculator so a hidden Duped unit doesn't turn a Fair trade into a Lose.
• When in doubt, walk away. A clean unit is always worth more than a rushed one.
